Yachting Basics course

The special course "Yachting Basics" is 3 weeks of theoretical and practical classes, during which you will study the necessary minimum of yachting theory and learn how to manage a sports sailing yacht.

The course will be useful both for beginners who are just starting sailing, and for those who already have experience - classes will help improve their qualifications before races and their sail management skills. And also, this special course will help you prepare for your studies at the Skippers School.

What you will learn

• The structure of a sailing yacht consists of. At the introductory theoretical lesson, we will analyze the structure of a sailing yacht using the example of the Platu 25 boat. We will find out what the hull consists of, what a spar and rigging are, what sails are. We will analyze the preparation for going to the sea and the armament of the yacht.
• Marine knots. Even a beginner yachtsman must be able to knit basic sea knots: we will teach you how to knit a few of the most necessary ones.
• Sail control. Together with our instructors, you will understand how the sails work and how to set them up correctly.
• Sailing yacht management. You will learn how to steer the boat correctly, taking into account all the important points: the draft of the sails, the center of sail, the center of resistance. At the end of the course, each crew will cover a short racing distance.

How the classes will be held:

Classes will be held in small groups of 5 people - this format will allow us to pay maximum attention to each student. The instructors of the special course are experienced and qualified instructors.

Classes are held at the Training Base in the Central Yacht Club.
