A sailing trip on the Kattegat

The Kattegat is the cradle of the Viking civilization! You will follow the routes that vikings once took, visit the museum with the reconstruction of the Viking settlement and feel like the discoverer they once were.

The modern Kattegat connects the Baltic and North Seas and is of great strategic importance. Between the beginning of the strait and its southern entrance to the Baltic waters there are 340 km, and this path is filled with romntic legends, ancient monuments, terrible mysteries, recognizable fjords and many other treasures that travelers look for. The Swedish coast of the strait is lined with long pebble beaches, sand dunes and majestic plateaus, densely covered with forests. The entire coast of the Baltic Sea is cut by huge skerries and gloomy high cliffs, which make the trip complicated even for the most experienced skippers.

    Gothenburg - Anholt

Today we are heading for Anholt. The island is surrounded by treacherous reefs and shallow waters, and its eastern part is covered with sand dunes. Trees have been cut down here for centuries to keep the lighthouse running. There are no luxury hotels on Anholt and only one monument. But there are many deserted sandy beaches, clean air, and the beauty of northern nature. The island's two highest points, Sønderbjerg and Nordbjerg, offer beautiful views of Jutland and Sweden on a clear day. But the main thing that attracts people from all over the world is the largest seal colony in Denmark. You can observe animals in their natural habitat at a specially equipped point.

    Anholt - Helsingor

Between two seas and two lands there is a small town of Helsingor - the birthplace of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark. Here there is the foggy fortress of Kronborg - the most visited attraction in Denmark. Next to it is one of the oldest palaces - Marienlist. We will walk along the streets in the city center, and see the monument to King Eric of Pomerania - the last Viking of the Baltic. The inscription on the monument is translated as follows: "My hope remains at sea." It is believed that the city "grew" out of the market. To this day, trade rows “bloom” on the main square twice a week. We will also take a look at the Church of St. Mary, which Andersen considered the most beautiful place in Denmark.

    Helsingor - København

The best place to mark the middle of our journey is Copenhagen! A city filled with wind and fog, indented by canals, decorated with colorful houses. Andersen's fairy tales were born on these very streets. Runestones, a rich collection of weapons and jewelry, and all those artifacts that speak eloquently about the Vikings are in the Danish National Museum. By the way, there are about 60 museums in Copenhagen for every taste. The city is very compact, so it will not be difficult to get around all the main attractions. Here we will eat something very fishy and very Danish.

    København - Trelleborg

In those days, when the whole northern part of Europe submitted to the fury of the Vikings, the so-called "Danish circular castles" were actively built - circular fortifications that served to protect the coast. One of these castles was found and partially restored in Trelleborg. We will walk through its territory, look into the museum and the reconstructed Viking village, and try local fish delicacies with a glass of beer. Now the city is a Scandinavian province. Nevertheless, it has a rich cultural heritage and the memory that Trellenborg was once a major port center.

    Trelleborg - Klintholm

Today we are going to the fishing village of Klintholm to taste the famous smoked herring! However, not only for this. Dense beech forests of incredibly green color, rare species of wild orchids, rich fauna. We will drop by to see one of the most beautiful and famous places in Denmark - Møns Klint. For millions of years, tall snow-white rocks have grown along the Baltic coast, flowing smoothly straight from the clouds into narrow pebble beaches. In the chalk foundation of the coast, there is an abundance of all kinds of fossils.

    Klintholm - Rostock

The only deep-water port is located here, which combines modern navigation conditions and the spirit of an ancient city. We will spend our free time sightseeing. We will visit the Ship Museum, the remains of the fortress walls, and the Church of St. Mary, which began to be built in the 13th century.
