How the training goes

2 months theoretical course

You get access to the theory course "Bareboat Skipper Sail" on a training platform for boaters. Access is for two months. You study at your own pace. At the end of the class you take a test. You also get access to a VHF radio operator. You are assigned an instructor who will supervise your training and answer any questions you may have.

Practical boating

Start from Sotogrande. Each day, the yacht makes a crossing to a new mooring point. The emphasis is on mooring. Mooring practice in marinas. Management of the yacht under sail. Every element is analyzed and practiced, skills are practiced.

Navigation .

Every day we do a preliminary navigational charting to the next mooring. Only paper maps are used. Afterwards you navigate using navigation tools to determine your position.

You are both sailor and captain.

During the training all cadets change roles and act as: sailor, captain, navigator (responsible for navigation).

Summing up of the day

In the evening you will analyse what mistakes were made during the study day.

Scoring a voyage

At the end of the trip we dedicate 3 days for scoring sailing. Why 3 days? The weather is different and stormy conditions are not suitable for passing the initial qualification.

What is included in valid sailing

Cadet must: make navigation route, sail the boat out of the marina; know where the boat is at all times; be able to find the boat; set and retract the sails; manage the boat under sail; bring it to the destination point; moor it.
