Chupa is located in the Kandalaksha Bay. The Kandalaksha Bay of the White Sea is a huge funnel-shaped fjord dotted with a large number of bays and lips with many rocky islands, great depths caused by tectonic faults in the earth's crust that occurred in the past. The small settlement of Chupa is mentioned in the middle of the 16th century. Since then, little has changed here - there are strong wooden houses on the picturesque coastline, and local residents are fed by fishing: gifts of the sea and forests.
In Chupa there is a yacht club that regularly holds the Kandalaksha Bay Cup regatta, which gathers yachtsmen from all over the White Sea, as well as receives guests from other regions.
Kandalaksha
Surrounded by picturesque and unique northern nature, in those places where the Niva River gives its waters to the White Sea, there is the southernmost city of the Murmansk region - Kandalaksha.
On more than 70 hectares of area, two seas are adjacent - the White and the Barents, two regions - the Murmansk region and Karelia, two natural zones replace each other - taiga and tundra. The Kandalaksha State Reserve is a unique place in all respects. It combines land and water areas with a variety of flora and fauna.
The Kandalaksha Bay, which is part of the reserve, is recognized as a territory of international importance. It attracts tourists, among other things, thanks to the inhabitants of its waters - harp seals.
