Start:Hindeloopen, Нидерланды
Finish:Винкевен, Нидерланды
DAY 1
Saturday. Hindeloopen.
Hindeloopen is a small and very picturesque town in the province of Friesland, which the Japan Association of Travel Agents rightly included in its list of the most beautiful villages in Europe in 2015.
DAY 2
Sunday. Journey from Hindeloopen to Lemmer.
We will continue to explore the province of Friesland and head to Lemmer – a town situated on the shores of Lake IJsselmeer and widely known among yachtsmen. And you can see this for yourself as you approach the harbour: endless rows of moorings warmly welcome sailing boats, motorboats and yachts of all types and sizes. Lemmer literally lives and breathes yachting!
DAY 3 Monday. Transfer from Lemmer to Giethoorn.
Many who have visited Giethoorn once rightly consider the village one of the cosiest places in Europe, and even joke that the Netherlands has its own Venice. What makes this remote spot so appealing? Let’s head there to find out!
DAY 4
Tuesday. Crossing from Giethoorn to Elburg.
Today we’re heading to the heart of the kingdom – we’re off to Elburg, one of the oldest towns in the Netherlands! Unlike Giethoorn, which looks as though it’s stepped straight out of the pages of Tolkien’s Middle-earth, Elburg is more like a meeting point for the Brotherhood of Pirates. The town has a simple square layout and is surrounded not only by high fortified walls but also by a deep canal.
DAY 5
Wednesday. Journey from Elburg to Amsterdam.
Having thoroughly enjoyed the charm of the small towns and soaked up their unique character, we set off for the heart of the Netherlands – the liveliest and most tourist-friendly city, brimming with a heady energy!
DAY 6
Thursday. Amsterdam.
Today we’ll continue exploring Amsterdam. We’ll pop into a shop that’s every traveller’s dream – Pied à Terre. Here you’ll find guidebooks, maps from different eras and scales, and literally millions of books covering every inch of the planet. We’ll head to Spui Square to admire the extravagant clothing collections of young and vibrant designers. We’ll stroll to the floating flower market, where both the most popular and the rarest varieties of flowers are gathered.
DAY 7
Friday. Transfer from Amsterdam to Vinkeveen.
After such busy days in the capital, it’s only natural to want to take a break to gather your thoughts and feelings. The small Dutch town of Vinkeveen is just the place for that! It is not usually the capitals and metropolises that define a country’s character, but rather those towns and villages situated some distance from the major population centres.
DAY 8.
Saturday. Vinkeveen.
Today we bid farewell to the cosy and comfortable houseboat that has kindly hosted us for a whole week, but we certainly won’t turn down the chance to meet again!
