Yachting Basics Course

The “Yachting Fundamentals” special course is 3 weeks of theoretical and practical training, in which you will learn the necessary minimum of yachting theory and learn how to manage a sports sailing yacht.

The course will be useful both for beginners who are just starting to engage in sailing, and for those who already have experience - classes will help to improve qualifications before the races and improve the skill of sailing. And the special course “Fundamentals of Yachting” will help prepare for study at the School of Captains.

What do you learn

• The device of a sailing yacht. At the introductory theoretical lesson, we will analyze the structure of a sailing yacht using the example of a Platu 25 boat. We will find out what the hull consists of, what is a mast and rigging, what sails are. We will analyze the preparations for going to sea and the armament of the yacht.
• Marine nodes. Even a novice yachtsman must be able to knit basic nautical knots: we will teach you how to knit some of the most necessary.
• Sail management. Together with our instructors, you will understand the work of the sails and their proper configuration.
• Management of a sailing yacht. You will learn how to steer the boat correctly, taking into account all the important points: draft of sails, center of sailing, center of resistance. At the end of the course, each crew will pass a short racing distance.

How are classes:

Classes will be held in small groups of 5 people - this format will give maximum attention to each student. Teachers of the special course are experienced and qualified instructors.

Classes are held at the Training Base at the Central Yacht Club.
