About the event
Matreshka Sailing Trophy is a Russian amateur sailing regatta combining competition, traveling, and informal friendly fellowship. You can participate even if you don't have any sailing experience.
Participants in the regatta are successful, active and open people from all over Russia that work in various sectors of the economy.
What is in the regatta for the participants:
— Yachting experience and participation in sailing races;
— Those who wish, can in the future learn to manage a sailing yacht and get a skipper license;
— Getting to know new countries, looking at them «from the water»;
— Getting to know the yachting lifestyle;
— An expansion of the circle of contacts, both friendly and business.
Foodies will not be disappointed: ancient and refined Majorcan cuisine will satisfy both meat lovers and seafood lovers. It also includes lots of vegetables grown on local plantations and olive oil. And, of course, the legendary paella and wine from local wineries!
The Matryoshka Sailing Trophy 2020 regatta fleet consists of 2 divisions of 7 boats of 41 (3-cabin) and 46 (4-cabin) feet.

- Saturday
1. Flying in 2. Transfer to the Scralino marina. 3. Amenities at the marina: WC, shower, cafes, restaurants, shops. 4. Check-in to the yachts. 5. The opening of the regatta
- Sunday
Breakfast on board. 11-00 going out to sea. Racing in the Gulf of Follonica Mooring in the marina of Punta Ala. Facilities in the marina: water, electricity, WC, shower, cafe, minimarket. Awarding the winners of the race in the restaurant, evening entertainment, disco.
- Monday
Breakfast on board. Race to Portroferraio, Elba. Mooring in Darsena Medicea Portroferraio. Facilities in the marina: water, electricity, WC, shower, cafe, restaurant. Dinner at the restaurant, evening entertainment, awarding the race winners.
- Tuesday
Breakfast on board. Loop racing near Portoferraio. Mooring in Darsena Medicea Portroferraio. Sightseeing in Portoferraio.
- Wednesday
Breakfast on board. Race Portroferraio - Marciana Marina. Mooring in the marina. Facilities in the marina: water, electricity, WC, shower, cafe. Awarding the winners of the race, party.
- Thursday
Breakfast on board. Race Marciana Marina - Porto Azurro. Mooring in the marina of Porto Azurro. Facilities in the marina: water, electricity, WC, shower, cafe. Dinner at the restaurant, evening entertainment, awarding the race winners.
- Friday
Breakfast on board or onshore Race Porto Azurro - Scarlino. Mooring in Scarlino marina. 15-30 refueling of yachts, cleaning up and technical delivery of yachts. Gala dinner and closing ceremony of the regatta, rewarding of the winners.
Location
The regatta will take place around the Elba Islands. It will start and finish on the Italian coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea in Scarlino marina. Scarlino is the closest marina to the island of Elba, where many yachts are based. It is fairly easy and convenient to get to Scarlino from Rome.

Yes, of course. There will be an experienced skipper and team members on the yacht. They will give you a role and teach you everything you need to know to be a useful team member and feel comfortable.
Yes, all team members will definitely try themselves in different roles to better understand each other. Standing at the helm is an integral part of training for beginners as well as setting sails, and helping the team during moorings.
As a rule, participants in the regatta live on the yacht. The boat has everything you need for a comfortable stay: nice beds, a kitchen, a shower with toilet. If you do not want to live on a yacht, then you can arrange to stay at the hotel onshore.
The crew decides altogether what kind of food they prefer to eat and makes necessary purchases. Simple dishes can be cooked, usually taking turns. Some regattas offer daily meals and intensive evening program for all crews.
We can make an invitation for a visa, but you need to apply for a visa by yourself.
Most people tolerate some seasickness easily. If you feel that you are starting to feel sick, it is best to get at the steering wheel or tune the sails. Get yourself busy, show your body that you don’t have time to get sick, you have to fight for victory in the race. There are also many quite effective medicines from sickness. If you start taking them in advance, then the probability of seasickness is almost zero.
Before each trip, we organize an online meeting where participants get to know each other and the captain. The captain will answer all your questions. The crew will have a group chat so you can get to know each other before the start of the regatta. Then you will meet in the marina.
The main rule is to dress comfortably and according to the weather.
Clothing:
- windbreaker and pants or shorts;
- shirt/jacket with UV protection (thermal underwear and fleece);
- adjustable hat/cap;
- gloves.
We recommend to purchase a long-sleeved jacket with UV protection in order to protect yourself from the sun and strong wind.
Yachting shoes should be:
- light, with non-slip white outsole;
- with the fixed heel;
- with a tightly closed nose.
During the sailing without shoes, you can fall or injure your fingers and feet on the deck. There are many protruding parts on the boat that are easy to catch. Unfortunately, even experienced sailors are not protected from unpleasant injuries when they ignore this simple rule.
