  • Day in Ekenchik.

Walk to Kaunos, or to the turtle beach of Istuzu.

On an excursion to Dalyan, where Kaunos is located, you can go only on a small boat, which is organized by a local cooperative. The ancient city of Kaunos, located in Dalyan, was founded around the Archaic period and is often mentioned in ancient scriptures. The well-being of the ancient city can be judged by the remains of public buildings, an amphitheater, a large public bath, a monumental fountain, a square and a harbor. The most important attraction of Kaunos is the monumental ancient tombs, which are rightly captured in every commercial about Turkey.

  • Trek to Kapi Creek - 25 miles

A picturesque bay with a restaurant where you can enjoy local cuisine.

Hikers can climb to the top of the mountain along the path that starts from the bay. The views from the mountain to Skopea Limani and Fethiye Bay are breathtaking. Also nearby is the ancient Lycian Trail

  • Walk to Cleopatra Bay - 5 miles

As if it had opened its arms to meet the gentle waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the bay stood still surrounded by rocks, in the outlines of one of which, one can clearly read the appearance of the beautiful Queen of Egypt Cleopatra. Perhaps it is thanks to this unusual rock that the bay got its name. Or maybe it originates in a beautiful legend that tells how, in ancient times, the great queen fell in love with this secluded place. The picturesque corner became for her a secret meeting place with the notorious Roman commander Mark Antony. It was here that lovers could meet in peace, away from prying eyes and fuss. And it was here that Queen Cleopatra washed her beautiful body, which marked the beginning of the rumor that the waters of the bay have the power of rejuvenation, and bathing in them is shown to every representative of the fair sex.

    Return to Kapi Creek

  • Trekking to Gemiler Island - 12 miles, walking along the island.

Gemiler Island is also called "St. Nicholas Island" and has become famous all over the world due to the large number of historical ruins. Archaeologists suggest that the island may have been the site of the original burial of St. Nicholas. The Turkish name Gemiler Adası means “Island of Ships”, which may indicate Saint Nicholas, who is considered the patron saint of sailors. Already in the Middle Ages, this island was known among sailors as the Island of St. Nicholas. Experts believe that Nikolai could have been buried in a church carved into the rock. His name is repeatedly found on the walls of the temple. Presumably, the relics of the saint lay in the church until the 650s, when, due to the approaching Arab fleets, they were transferred to the city of Mira, located about 25 km to the east.
