Регата AFR - 2019

Perhaps the funniest amateur regatta.

Another Fucking Race is a race for debuting and beginning skippers and their friends, a large-scale sailing event combining a regatta and a party. AFR is an ideal format for practicing sailing skills for both novice captains and team members. Traveling as part of a flotilla involves not only an incredibly active social life in marinas, but also mutual assistance in any difficult situations arising at sea and offshore.

The Greek AFR route is designed so that teams every day after 4-5 hours of racing and transitions are on new islands. There are almost no large marinas in the Saronic Gulf, so we moor at the central promenades and squares, in small bays and other cozy and charming places. Despite the lack of a serious yacht infrastructure, there is access to drinking water and electricity in the parking lots, and when leaving the boat you will immediately find yourself in the epicenter of the local life of the Greek islands.

As someone from the regatta party said successfully, this is a pioneer camp for adults. And that is very much true.
Most of all we love this regatta for the atmosphere, for the opportunity to meet friends, for all those sessions in which we participate during the racing week.
Do you know anyone yet? - the keyword "bye". Believe me, the number of friends after this action will increase sharply, because there are a lot of funny, interesting, sociable people.

Events schedule

  • Day 1

    Arriving in Athens, Marina Alimos

Check-in to the boat after 16:00, familiarity with its structure. Training sailing (training in basic skills: setting sail, maneuvering; not always arranged, by agreement of the captain and crew). In the evening, a big welcome dinner, meeting and introducing teams.

  • Day 2

Going to the island of Aegina

Safety briefing on each boat. Morning exit from the marina, the first race. As a rule, this is a fairly simple training race from point A to point B, as many team members go to sea for the first time. The transition to a new location, which is usually accompanied by a detailed lecture by the captain on the order of mooring. Free time for dinner, sightseeing.

  • Day 3

    City Epidavros

Briefing, morning outing, second race. Transition to a new marina. If you wish the team and the captain after the race, you can not immediately go to the parking lot, but stay in the water area for sailing training, swimming, fishing. Free time on the shore. On the evening of this day, an elemental party usually happens on a pontoon or on some of the boats, and if the weather allows, watching a movie on sails.

  • Day 4

    Going to Methana

Briefing, strong coffee after the evening before. Morning departure at sea, the third race. Usually by this day, team members begin to understand what is happening on board, so the race is becoming more complicated. Transition to a new location. Free time for cultural or not very cultural leisure.

  • Day 5

    Poros Island

Briefing, access to the sea, another race. The transition to a new parking lot - to the marina or to the anchor. Anchorages are associated with some restrictions, for example, the inability to go ashore in a second and the need to save water, but they also have their own charm: trips to the neighbors in an inflatable boat, landings with adventures, night and morning swims. In the end, far from the light of marinas and embankments, the stars are very clearly visible.

  • Day 6

    Ermioni - Porto Heli

Briefing, access to the sea, the decisive race. Moored in a new city or on a new island. Analysis of the results, the continuation of the party. Salute from the pontoon.

  • Day 7, Friday

Return to the home marina, inspection of the boats by the charter company (usually only the captain is involved in the process, the team has free time). Gala dinner with rewarding of winners, drinks, dancing and unrestrained fun.
