Sailing Week in the Atlantic — Explore the Canary Islands by Sea

A week of sailing awaits us in the Atlantic Ocean — just the way we love it!

Dates: January 10–17.

Route: Tenerife Radazul – Tenerife Las Galletas – La Gomera (San Sebastián) – La Palma (Santa Cruz) and back, depending on the weather.
Or we might get inspired and add an extra 100 miles to Santa Cruz de Tenerife via the northern route — or head south via La Gomera (Valle Gran Rey) – Tenerife Marina San Miguel (Amarilla) – Tenerife Radazul.

On every island we rent a car and explore.

La Gomera, the first island on our route, lies just 22 miles from Tenerife.
It’s often called Columbus’ Island, as it was the last Spanish port of call on all four of his voyages to the Americas. A monument to Cristóbal Colón stands in central San Sebastián de La Gomera. You’ll also find his preserved residence and the Conde Tower. In San Sebastián you’ll enjoy a walking quest through the town.
The island is home to Garajonay National Park, a thousand-year-old laurel forest, the stunning Valle Gran Rey, a haven for hippies from all over the world, a glass observation deck hanging over the cliffs with a view of Tenerife, and the legendary Blue Marlin bar, where we’ll spend the evening.

La Palma, our second island, is 48 miles (about ten hours under sail) from La Gomera.
Expect vast pine and mushroom forests, the dramatic Cumbre Vieja volcano, which erupted only recently and reshaped the island’s coastline with lava flows that poured into the ocean like in prehistoric times.
We’ll visit the astronomical observatory at 2,000 meters — one of the three largest on Earth — the historic wooden balconies of Santa Cruz, and a full-scale 1:1 replica of Columbus’ ship Santa María, with a maritime museum inside.

Price: €1800 per cabin, or €1050 per individual participant.
Extras: food on board and at restaurants, fuel, marinas, and rental of two minibuses on La Gomera and La Palma.
