Scandinavian vacation: Gothenburg - Breege

Scandinavia in summer will impress you with medieval towns, modern architecture, hygge and Nordic landscapes. The journey is suitable for beginners, but experienced yachtsmen will not be bored too. The crossings will take 5-6 hours a day on average.

We will start from Germany and sail to Denmark, to see the islands, natural parks and, of course, Copenhagen. There we will sail on a yacht right through the city center. And on the way, we will stop at Swedish Malmö and finish in Gothenburg. The second part of the trip starts from Gothenburg. We will sail to Norway and in a week we will be in Stavanger, our final point. Our Norwegian expedition starts from Stavanger.

    DAY 1

    GOTHENBURG

Gothenburg is the second-largest city and the cultural capital of Sweden. The city was founded in the 17th century but actively developed during industrialization. Here, of course, there are castles and moats, but there are also many monuments of industrial architecture and modern buildings. We recommend to walk along the central boulevard Avenue and visit the Museum of Art to see the works of Scandinavian modernists who never leave Sweden - Kroyer, Munch, and Larsson.

    DAY 2

    GOTHEBORG >>> ANHOLT ISLAND

Anholt is a tiny (22 square kilometers) Danish island with a population of only 167 people. There is an ancient lighthouse on the island, built in the 16th century by order of the king and enclosed in brick in 1785–88. The eastern part of Anholt - Erkenen - is the largest desert in Northern Europe.

We will walk to the lighthouse or climb the highest points of the island - Sennerbjerg and Nordbjerg. On a clear day, you can see the outlines of the shores of Jutland or Sweden from there. If we're lucky, we'll see the seals. The largest colony in Denmark lives on Anholt.

The crossing is 70 miles (approximately 11-12 hours).

    DAY 3-4

    ANHOLT ISLAND >>> COPENHAGEN

Copenhagen is the capital of the oldest monarchy in Europe. The city is located on three islands. After the crossing, we will moor in the very center.

In Copenhagen, you should definitely walk through the old city with its beautiful streets and squares, squeeze through the narrowest alley in the city - Morten Trozigs Grand and look into Christiania - the self-proclaimed hippie state. Also, you might want to visit Tivoli, Europe's oldest amusement park inspired by Disney.

The next day, you can wake up early, rent a bike (Scandinavia is a paradise for cyclists), and head to Erestad, an area with modern architecture, whose buildings have been recognized as the best on the planet several times. And also visit the Junibakken Museum. This is the magical world of fairy tales by Astrid Lindgren and other Scandinavian children's writers.

The crossing on the first day is 85 miles (about 14 hours) We will stay for two days in the center of Copenhagen.
