Canaries in spring, 4 islands in 10 days: Tenerife — La Gomera — La Palma — Hierro. 310 nm

We are planning to visit four islands of the archipelago in ten days. During the crossings, we will have a lot of practice in managing a yacht and sails. You will see the Atlantic, feel the waves and wind, and maybe meet whales and dolphins. There will be sun, beaches and swimming in the ocean. We will see magnificent islands, cliffs, and mountain peaks towering above the ocean. We know the secrets of tuna fishing in these waters, so fishing is part of our plans.

    Sailing to La Palma

The island has two names: La Isla Bonita (Beautiful Island) and La Isla Verde (Green Island), and both fit it perfectly. This is the only island of the Canary Archipelago where there are rivers, although very small. La Palma is the highest island in the world in proportion to its area. The highest mountain, Roque de los Muchachos, is 2423 meters above sea level. The largest astrophysical observatory of the Northern Hemisphere is located on its top.

We will rent a car and drive around the island

The main attraction of the island is the Caldera de Taburiente national park, located in the center of the island. A huge erosive crater was formed 400 thousand years ago as a result of an explosion and an earthquake. Apart from rocks of unusual shapes, the crater is covered with a dense pine forest. The crater depth reaches 2,000 m, the circumference is 28 km, the diameter is 8-10 km. It covers an area of 2426 m. A stone spire, Rocke de Idafe, 800 meters high, rises from the bottom.

    Sailing to Hierro

Hierro can be called the most unique island of the Canary Archipelago. It is very small, but at the same time, an amazing corner of the planet. The entire territory of the island is a series of interesting natural attractions. There are also historical sites that are interesting to study. There are several dozen magnificent beaches, so the island has long been popular with tourists who prefer spending time on the coast.

    Sailing to La Gomera island

La Gomera is the pearl of the archipelago. Black volcanic sand beaches, eucalyptus forests, magnificent views of neighboring islands, gorges and valleys are waiting for us. During a trip around the island, we will often stop at the observation spaces «miradors», trying to capture the beauty of the surrounding nature with our cameras. The marina where we will stay is located in the town of San Sebastian. This is a quiet, cozy town, famous for the fact that Columbus stayed here before heading to the shores of India. Here, there is the church where he prayed, and the house where his beloved lived.

Sailing to the island of Tenerife

This Spanish island has lots of attractions, and among them there are ancient buildings, modern cultural centers, and nature reserves of amazing beauty. The visiting card of the resort is the Teide volcano. This name can be translated as «snow mountain», as the first settlers nicknamed it for the unique view of the snowy peaks of Teide. In the foothill area, there is the National Park of Las Cañadas del Teide. The landscape will remind you the movies about the Moon: the same weathered rocks and streams of frozen lava. Only amazing plants give the terrain some «earthly» look.
