• an in-depth study of navigation
• work with tide and current charts
• night navigation
• storm sailing
• Sail set up for heavy winds (storm trysail and storm jib)
• Mast breakage management
• rough weather drifting, big wave practice
• theory and practice of passing the squall
• skipper and crew handling in rough seas
• positioning on a floating anchor and drogue (version of floating anchor)
• practising special exercises: "Man overboard" under sail, "Man overboard" at night
