Unusual experience - the White Sea is a tidal region, we will study the Solovetsky archipelago in detail!
The main attraction of this trip is Solovki.
The Solovetsky Archipelago is located in the Onega Bay, between the Karelian Pomerania and the Summer Coast of the White Sea, 90 miles from the Arctic Circle.
Solovetsky Islands - the largest archipelago of the White Sea. It consists of six large and approximately 70 small islands. The area of the Big Solovetsky Island is 248 km². In addition to it, islands are interesting: Anzer, Bolshaya Muksalma, Malaya Muksalma, Bolshaya Zayatsky, Maliy Zayatsky.
An important role in the formation of the relief of the archipelago was played by the glacier. Due to the geographical location on the archipelago, its own microclimate has formed.
Here cherries, rose hips bloom, cedars, maples, hazel, viburnum, mountain ash grow - more than 500 species of vegetation.
Most of the Solovetsky archipelago is covered with forests. Here you can admire the groves of "dancing" birches. At sunset, it may seem that these are silhouettes of dancers. The fact is that thin northern trees take bizarre forms under the influence of constant winds and snow.
Solovki is surrounded by the most salty of the inland seas of Russia - White. At the same time there are 639 fresh lakes. Herring, navaga, cod, flounder, catfish, pinagor are found in the sea. In the lakes - perch, roach, pike, burbot, trout, ruff. Among marine animals - seal, beluga whale, sea hare, harp seal. Algae plantations grow in the coastal strip: kelp, fucus, and anfelium.
The symbol of the islands is the Solovetsky gulls. They inhabit the entire archipelago and are considered the messengers of spring here.
