A practical Day Skipper course in Croatia

During the course, you will receive practical sailing yacht management skills necessary for independent coastal navigation. You will learn how to moor in a marina, anchor, pull a crew member out of the water, maneuver on sails and manage a team. You will receive the night navigation skills. One day you will act as a captain: you will plan a day crossing, conduct training, manage the team. You will refresh theoretical knowledge and prepare for the exams.

At the end of the course, you will pass the exam in the Croatian captain’s office in Zadar. If you pass the exam successfully you will receive category B license that entitles you to operate a boat up to 30 gross tons (approximately 60 feet) 12 miles from the coast. A Croatian license also includes a VHF (radio) certificate, you won’t need to receive it separately.

You will learn:

• Acceptance of a boat, safety rules.
• Security equipment and emergency analysis.
• Man-overboard situations.
• Sails, settings and control of a sailing yacht.
• Mooring in a marina, on a buoy, on an anchor.
• Sailing maneuvers.
• Night navigation and a VHF radio.

Training stages:

• To practice, you don’t need experience managing a yacht, but to successfully pass the exams, you will need to have theoretical knowledge. We will send materials in Russian free of charge 3 months before the start of the course. The course is based on the materials of the RYA school. There will also be full-time training for residents of St. Petersburg and correspondence / on-line training for residents of other cities.
• A practical course in Croatia.
• An exam at the end of a practical course in the Croatian captain’s office. If you pass the exam successfully you will receive category B license, which gives the right to manage a yacht up to 30 gross tons (about 60 feet).
