ROLEX MIDDLE SEA RACE 2019
Take part in the famous offshore Rolex Middle Sea Race in Malta! Yachts start from Valletta, sail past Sicily and the islands of the autumn Mediterranean! Enjoy the Gulf of Messina, which connects the Ionian Sea with the Strait of Tyrrhenia, after which you will see the active volcano Stromboli and the pirate island of Lampedusa. Registration of participants begins on October 14, after which a briefing will take place.
The next day, the teams will test their readiness in the Rolex Middle Sea Coastal Race, which will help to find out the waters and organize the work of the team. After the awarding ceremony, the key event will be held - the Rolex Middle Sea Race Crew Party! A great chance to meet and relax before the main adventure of this year. 150 yachts will sail a circle of 600 miles in 7 days, returning at the end again to the port of Malta, where there will be a ceremonial presentation of awards!

Registration of participants of the 40th regatta Rolex Middle Sea Race. Over 150 yachts compete in a race of 600 kilometers!
8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Coastal Race Briefing
Excelsior Grand Hotel is waiting for the Coastal Race briefing team from 8:00 - 19:00. The hotel has scenic views of Marsamxett Harbor and Manoel Island! The place is located near Valletta - the capital of Malta, which is a UNESCO heritage.
10:00 Rolex Middle Sea Coastal Race
Participants will familiarize themselves with the waters at a coastal race that will take place around Malta, Gozo, Comino or Fifla. The sea of these small islands of the Maltese archipelago has an incredibly rich turquoise color!
At 19:30, the Rolex Middle Sea Coastal Race Award Ceremony will be held, where you will warm up your emotions before the main event! Participants will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the local waters. The race takes place along one of four routes around Malta, Gozo, Comino or Fifla.
19:30 - award ceremony.
20:00 - Rolex Middle Sea Race Crew Party
The famous party on the eve of the start! Chat with other racers, listen to live music and just enjoy life!
After all, after the Rolex Middle Sea Race Crew Party, you will have to work hard and run around the deck!
11: 00-12: 00 - Question and Answer Session Rolex Middle Sea Race
At this meeting, you can personally shake hands with the legends of Rolex Middle Sea Race and ask questions along with journalists and other crew members and the Club. The session will be held at the Royal Malta Yacht Club, which is located near the center, where you can buy what you need on the way.
18:00 - 19:00 - Rolex Briefing on the Mediterranean Sea.
Excelsior Grand Hotel will host a briefing for skippers and a weather forecast summary. After that, you can discuss the remaining details at a short reception, after which do not forget to get a good night's sleep before the tests!
11:00 - Rolex Middle Sea Race - the beginning of the race.
The regatta starts in the harbor of Malta, guests can watch from the height of Valletta Fortress. The noise of guns will inform about the ceremonial departure of 150 yachts!
Rolex Middle Sea Race - the end of the race.
At 10:30, the Rolex Middle Sea Race Award Ceremony will take place. The ancient halls of the 16th century building, where the event will be held from 15:00 to 20:00, emphasize the solemnity of the end of the competition, 600 miles long!
Location
The race begins with medieval Malta and passes by Italy's largest island ─ Sicily. Through the Strait of Messina you will reach the islands of Stromboli, Pantelleria and Lampedusa, after which the regatta will end again in Malta.
