Sail Racing Course

The first and only offshore racing course in Cyprus with its Fareast 28R mono fleet and experienced instructors in the beautiful Limassol Marina.

The course is suitable for both beginners and those who would like to refresh their knowledge (Level 1). So it is for advanced sailors already familiar with sail (Level 2).

  • 4 days off. The course takes place on one weekend: 6 hours a day, of which 2 hours of theory and 4 hours of practice.
  • 8 hours of theory. 4 theoretical lessons, 2 hours each, lessons are held on a yacht in Limassol Marina
  • 16 hours at sea. 4 practical lessons of 3-4 hours at sea, 3 days of them - in race mode on FAREAST 28R yachts, practice immediately after theory.
  • 5 people. We recruit a group of 5-6 people, this guarantees maximum attention to each member of the team.

Events schedule

  • Level 1

    Suitable for beginners and those who would like to brush up on their knowledge. Enrollment for the course is open. The course is held on one of the weekend days: Saturday or Sunday, for 4 weeks.

    Day One: Basic Information

    Time: 10: 00-15: 00

    On the first day, you will learn:

    - materiel and terminology,

    - basic settings for different courses and directions,

    - learn how to determine the center of sail and general yacht balance concepts,

    - consider the basics of team management,

    - prepare the yacht for racing,

    - analyze the roles and functions in the crew.

    - Practical part at sea for 4 hours.

    Day two: yacht management

    Time: 10: 00-15: 00

    In the second session, you will learn how to set up and operate the sails.

    Work it out:

    - setting the head sails,

    - setting up gear and mainsail,

    - seating and team work,

    - work out taxiing to the wind

    - and turns.

    - Practical part at sea for 4 hours.

    Third and fourth day

    Time: 10: 00-15: 00

    Captain's role and management:

    - holding a briefing with the team,

    - exit from Limassol Marina,

    - taxiing and crew command,

    - working off the passed material,

    - yacht mooring and maneuvers in Limassol Marina.

    - Practical part at sea for 4 hours.

    Time: 10: 00-15: 00

    Working out the passed material. Answers on questions.

    Exam:

    - theory based on the material covered (questions on the boat),

    - solving problems in practice at sea,

    - practical part at sea 4 hours.
