Start:Tivat, Montenegro
Finish:Tivat, Montenegro
You have graduated from the yachting school and received a skipper certificate, so it's time to try yourself at a sailing race. We will take the first step together in a sailing regatta for beginners in SimpleRace 2020!
What is SimpleRace 2020? Simple Race is a training regatta in which novice yachtsmen gain theoretical and practical experience in sailing a yacht. The fleet includes racing yachts and a referee ship. Each yacht has 4-6 novice racers and one chief instructor.
Every day, participants change places and take up new positions on the yacht. Every day the boat is led by a new helmsman. This format allows a novice helper to understand how the crew should act on a yacht during the race. In one day it is planned to conduct 2-3 short (up and down) races if weather conditions permit.
In free time, seminars are held in various disciplines, including:
- Rules for sailing competitions
- Setting sails and rigging
- Sailing racing tactics
The water area of the regatta - Kotor Bay in Montenegro - is one of the most picturesque corners of the planet. Here, on a tiny piece of land, you will see almost everything - monumental mountains, olive groves, crystal clear water, and, of course, wonderful and friendly people.
from €950 / 8 days / 1pers.

Porto Montenegro is located in Tivat - it is a small pretty resort town on the Adriatic Sea. Montenegro put up a military shipyard Arsenal for sale several years ago. It was bought by one Canadian billionaire. In the territories of the former plant, he created Porto Montenegro - a private port that serves private ships.

Kotor is a medieval city built by the Venetians. In any convenient place they put up a winged lion - a symbol of Venice. You can find one such lion climbing up to the very top of the Kotor fortress wall - the bastion of San Giovanni. Ordinary people live in the stone houses of the Kotor aristocrats.
You will enter the city through the main sea gate. At the gate you will be greeted by a bas-relief of St. Tryphon - the protector of the city since the 9th century to this day, and above the gate there is a stone mask of Neptune: it is always better to have the support of several patrons. Walk around the city, along its squares, and narrow streets.

The history of Tivat originates in ancient times. The founders of the first settlement were either Illyres or Greeks. Since the Middle Ages - the time of Venetian rule in the Bay of Kotor, the medieval stone tower remained in the city - the remains of the summer palace of the Kotor aristocratic family. Nowadays, a medieval summer cottage is used as an open summer theater venue.

Meline is a town full of sunshine and warmth with almost 285 sunny days a year. Here, the combination of mountain and sea air with a large amount of iodine influenced the construction of the oldest and most famous building in this city, Lazaret Hospital. The hospital is an impressive building, which was built by the Venetians in a recessed stone, prepared for the construction of a large monastery church in Savina.

Herceg Novi meets everyone who heads for the Bay of Kotor. The city stands directly opposite the only sea entrance to the bay. The city is built in such a way that all its houses are on different levels, so when you walk around the city you go up and down hundreds of stone steps. The city has three medieval fortresses - the Turkish Kanli Kula (Blood Tower, a prison for inconspicuous Christians), the Spanish Spaniola, and the Venetian Citadel. According to the local tradition, all of them become theatrical venues if needed.

Leaving the yachts. We hope that our regatta has met your expectations, you were able to hone your skipper skills and make new friends and like-minded people. See you at our next regattas!
The regatta will be held in the waters of Kotor Bay. We will go along the route Porto Montenegro - Kotor - Tivat - Meline - Bigova - Herceg Novi - Porto Montenegro. *We might make minor changes to the regatta program because of wind and waves.
Yes, of course. There will be an experienced skipper and team members on the yacht. They will give you a role and teach you everything you need to know to be a useful team member and feel comfortable.
Yes, all team members will definitely try themselves in different roles to better understand each other. Standing at the helm is an integral part of training for beginners as well as setting sails, and helping the team during moorings.
As a rule, participants in the regatta live on the yacht. The boat has everything you need for a comfortable stay: nice beds, a kitchen, a shower with toilet. If you do not want to live on a yacht, then you can arrange to stay at the hotel onshore.
The crew decides altogether what kind of food they prefer to eat and makes necessary purchases. Simple dishes can be cooked, usually taking turns. Some regattas offer daily meals and intensive evening program for all crews.
We can make an invitation for a visa, but you need to apply for a visa by yourself.
Most people tolerate some seasickness easily. If you feel that you are starting to feel sick, it is best to get at the steering wheel or tune the sails. Get yourself busy, show your body that you don’t have time to get sick, you have to fight for victory in the race. There are also many quite effective medicines from sickness. If you start taking them in advance, then the probability of seasickness is almost zero.
Before each trip, we organize an online meeting where participants get to know each other and the captain. The captain will answer all your questions. The crew will have a group chat so you can get to know each other before the start of the regatta. Then you will meet in the marina.
The main rule is to dress comfortably and according to the weather. Clothing: • windbreaker and pants or shorts; • shirt/jacket with UV protection (thermal underwear and fleece); • adjustable hat/cap; • gloves. We recommend to purchase a long-sleeved jacket with UV protection in order to protect yourself from the sun and strong wind. Yachting shoes should be: • light, with non-slip white outsole; • with the fixed heel; • with a tightly closed nose. During the sailing without shoes, you can fall or injure your fingers and feet on the deck. There are many protruding parts on the boat that are easy to catch. Unfortunately, even experienced sailors are not protected from unpleasant injuries when they ignore this simple rule.
