Stavanger. Check-in on a yacht. Buying food Evening barbecue at the monument to the Three Kings.
At 17:00 we will meet in Stavanger, where a hospitable and comfortable yacht will be waiting for you. We will buy gorceries, after which we will go to see the ancient city, the place where the Norwegian state was born. We will go to an evening barbecue at the Three Kings Monument. The city where the memorial is located is considered quite expensive by European standards, but despite this, hotels and hostels in Stavanger are booked all year round, as tourists from all over the world visit these ancient places.
On these rocks a memorable battle took place, sung in The Saga of Harald the Fairhair. Skald Torbjörn Hornklovy, a direct witness of the event, wrote the saga of the brave king Harold, who won the naval battle at Havrsfjord, which marked the beginning of modern Norway.
Going out to the sea. Sailing to Skudenshavn.
Today we will go to Skudenshavn. One of the best-preserved small towns in Norway, it is nestled in the very corner of Karmoy Island. About 130 white wooden houses in the city center, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, many canals and a unique flavor - all this will pleasantly surprise any traveler. Skudenshavn has been honored with the proud title "Summer City of Norway" in 2004
We will take a leisurely stroll through the narrow streets, look into the local history museum to breathe in the peace and charm of this city together with the fresh sea air, plunge into the town's past and get a charge of positive energy.
With its many canals cutting through the serene landscape, Skudenshavn slightly resembles Venice but with Norwegian flavor. We will also have a hearty and tasty meal in one of the local restaurants of national cuisine.
Fishing and sailing to Mosteroy Island.
Even the first settlers of the cold fjords realized that it was fish that was the real wealth of this harsh and beautiful Nordic country. Today in Norway, it is allowed to fish for sea fish all year round, and you don't need a special license. Fishermen from all over the world come together for unique and exciting emotions, and if the weather is fine we will also catch some fish.
Then we will go for a walk around Mosteroy Island! The ancient abbey of Utstein Kloster, founded in the 13th century, is located here, and each building of the monastery has miraculously preserved its historical appearance. We will enjoy a picturesque view of the bay, in which the Viking ships once found shelter and rescue. The nearby Fheløy Lighthouse, surrounded by ancient legends and eerie stories, served as a ray of light in the night for those at sea.
Sailing to Jorperland. Trekking to Preikestolen. A picnic in the mountains.
On Tuesday we will sail past a series of small picturesque islands in Jorperland. One of the brightest moments of our journey is climbing the Preikestolen rock. This wondrous cliff is also called the Pulpit Rock.
By bus, we will get to the base of the mountain, from where we will trek along one of the most beautiful routes in the world. The ascent to the plateau lasts about an hour and a half, during which time we will enjoy the unique landscape and breathe the purest mountain air. Ready for an adventure? Then put on comfortable shoes and warm clothes and stock up on provisions for the most memorable picnic! At the top, you will feel that fatigue has disappeared! The plateau offers a beautiful view of the spectacular Lysefjord. Stretching your legs out and taking the first sip, you will see that it was worth it!
Going to Lysebotn. Wonderful views of the fjord. Barbeque
Today we will sail to the small village of Lysebotn. This is one of the two settlements of the Lysefjord, hidden in a small valley and almost sandwiched by two massive rocks. To get to the town is possible only by one road, which has no less than 27 sharp turns. But we, of course, will enter the town from the sea. Lysebotn stands in the very depths of the "fjord of light" - the Lysefjord.
In Lysebotn, there is a picturesque waterfall, a small chapel, but of course, the main local attraction is the northern nature! A surprisingly cold mountain river with crystal clear water flows along one of the rocks, and rams and sheep graze lazily in the grass. The air in this valley is filled with the noise of waterfalls, and the fresh wind now and then brings us the smell of salt water, mixing it with the scent of wildflowers. Magnificent landscapes, sounds and smells - everything merges together and takes us to a Norwegian fairy tale. We will fish, tell scary tales by the fire and have a barbecue. But we will return to the yacht for the night.
Climbing the Kjerag plateau.
It's time to explore the second of the most famous hiking trails in Norway - Kjørag and touch the Kjøragbolton, or a pea-stone. You can get to this place without special equipment, do not be deceived by the seemingly smooth surface of the stones. Climbing up them is quite convenient, in some places there are special chain-railings, which you can and should hold onto. The ascent will take about 2.5 hours, so you should wear comfortable shoes and clothes, it can be quite windy and cool. Having overcome three ascents and two descents, we will find ourselves at the top point of the plateau, from which the village and the fjord are visible at a glance! We will enjoy the views, testing our own courage on Kjøragbolton - which of you would dare to climb a pea-stone stuck above the abyss between two rocks? And look at the sea from a height of a thousand kilometers? Next to the plateau, there is a pretty terrace overlooking the waterfall - a good spot for a picnic! The way back will take about the same time as the ascent, but it will definitely be much more fun and easier.
We will return to the yacht and make a short crossing to Fleurly, where we will stay for the night.
Fleurley. Mountains trekking
In the morning we will go to the main attraction of Fleurley - the old power plant. A mysterious and memorable building is located on a mountain, and its pipes, like the tentacles of a giant kraken, stretch all the way to the lake. On the way to the power plant, we will have a unique chance to walk the stairs, which according to some sources is the longest on the planet and has almost four and a half thousand wooden steps The road passes through very picturesque places, the trees form a kind of green corridor, which invites you to walk under the whispering of fairies into another Norwegian fairy tale.
Then we will return to Stavanger where we will stay overnight.
Leaving the yacht
The Norwegian adventure comes to an end and in the morning, at 09:00, we will leave our snow-white yacht. We recommend to explore this city more and walk around it.
In Stavanger, there is the oldest cathedral in Norway, an unusual cannery museum, one of the largest entertainment complexes in Norway, and a unique oil museum. Oil fields have transformed the town from a herring production center into the fourth largest settlement in Norway.
